Comedian Rosie O’Donnell went on Twitter a few days ago and made a controversial comment about Barron Trump, who is the 10-year-old son of President-elect Donald Trump. She tweeted the following message: “Barron Trump Autistic? if so – what an amazing opportunity to bring attention to the AUTISM epidemic.”
O’Donnell didn’t appear to be trying to insult Barron Trump. She seemed to be curious about whether Barron suffered from autism or not. O’Donnell is known for being a longtime advocate for bringing awareness to autism because she has a child with autism. Along with her Twitter message, she included a video which was supposed to show evidence of how Barron has a developmental disorder.
After O’Donnell published her tweet, many of her own followers on Twitter criticized her for bringing unnecessary attention to Barron. O’Donnell then came back on Twitter to clarify her comment by telling her fans that she did not make the video that was in her tweet and that she just noticed the signs of autism in Barron.
Rosie O’Donnell and Donald Trump have a somewhat rocky history. In 2006, they were both publicly insulting one another on various talk shows. It all started when O’Donnell criticized Trump for giving a Ms. Universe contestant a second chance after it was discovered that she was abusing drugs. So, when Trump heard the criticisms, he fired back at O’Donnell with every kind of insult you can imagine.
Ten years later, the tension between Trump and O’Donnell still remains. This has people wondering whether O’Donnell is going after Barron just to get back at his father. The president-elect has yet to comment on O’Donnell’s recent tweets about his son. The Trump family has never publicly said that Barron has autism or any other kind of developmental disorder. If it is true, perhaps Trump will just keep quiet because he doesn’t want to dwell on it or bring that kind of attention to his son.
