The recent release of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens allowed Star Wars fans to be reintroduced to their favorite characters from the original trilogy, including Han Solo and Princess Leia. They were two characters who eventually developed a romance in the Star Wars movies. But, did you ever wonder if the actors who played those characters had a real fling going on?

According to Carrie Fisher who played Princess Leia, she had an affair with Harrison Ford (who played Han Solo) during the filming of the first Star Wars movie from 1977. While they were filming, Fisher was just 19-years-old and Ford was 33-years-old. He was also married already and had two children with his wife at the time.

It has been almost 40 years since the alleged affair took place and now Fisher is ready to spill the beans. Her new book “The Princess Diarist” is a collection of stories from Fisher about what she experienced behind the scenes of the original Star Wars movie “A New Hope.” The movie itself was filmed in 1976 which was when the actual affair supposedly took place.

In Fisher’s interview with People Magazine, she described her affair with Ford as “intense” and that it was like “Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend.” Fisher, now 60, wrote in the book that she and Ford first hooked up after attending a birthday party for George Lucas, who was the writer and director of Star Wars.

Fisher wrote to Ford before her book was published and gave him a heads-up about it so he could be prepared to answer questions. People Magazine contacted Ford to get his reaction to Fisher’s story about her affair with him. He just responded “Lawyer!” Ford is generally a private person and probably wouldn’t want to discuss it if it were true.
