Three Mosques in California Were Sent Threatening Letters

Numerous mosques in California were sent very disturbing letters which threatened the genocide of Muslims. If that wasn’t bad enough, they gave praise to President-elect Donald Trump. These letters motivated a civil rights group to go to the police and request more protection from them for these mosques.

According to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the letter received by these mosques was a handwritten letter that appeared to be photocopied. This same photocopied letter showed up in the mailboxes of the Evergreen Islamic Center in San Jose, the Islamic Center of Claremont, and the Islamic Center of Long Beach. Therefore, it is likely the same person or same group sending this letter out to these mosques.

In the letter, it is addressed specifically to the “children of Satan.”  The sender is clearly an extreme right-wing racist who views all Muslims as terrorists and probably supports Trump because of his proposal to ban all Muslims from coming into the country. At the end of the letter, the signature reads “American for a Better Way.”

The content of the letter expressed the author’s admiration for “President Donald Trump” and how he’s going to cleanse America by starting with the Muslims. More disturbingly, the author wrote that Trump will do the same thing to Muslims that Hitler had done to the Jewish people. These kinds of racist comments are exactly why there are protests going on around the United States where people are denouncing the election of Donald Trump.

The executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations believes Trump’s campaign is what started this hateful rhetoric to be aimed at the Muslim community. The director, Hussam Ayloush, said he doesn’t think Trump is a racist himself but what he did do was help “normalize” racism.

The San Jose Police Department is currently opening an investigation into these threatening letters. They are being treated as an act of hate so they are going to be taken seriously.
