The year of 2016 is now coming to an end and the leaders of the world seem enthusiastic about what the next year will bring. President-elect Donald Trump got on Twitter today to wish everyone a Happy New Year, even his enemies.

Here is the exact message that he posted: “Happy New Year to all, including to my many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so badly they just don’t know what to do. Love!”

This is obviously Trump’s way of flaunting his success to all those who doubted that he could win the presidential election. His wide range of harsh critics have included members of the media, the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, and numerous Hollywood celebrities. Furthermore, Trump’s critics have repeatedly denounced his coziness with Russian President Vladimir Putin, especially when it is rumored that Putin ordered the hacks which interfered with the U.S. election.

Speaking of Putin, the Russian president also issued a public statement in his country where he wished nothing but happiness for the Russian people. He also acknowledged that 2016 has been a tough year for Russia, due to the recent hacking scandal and their heavy involvement in the civil war taking place in Syria.

President Barack Obama gave his last New Year’s message to the people of the United States as well. He urged Americans to look back at everything that his administration has accomplished throughout the last eight years, such as killing Osama bid Laden, creating Obamacare, and establishing a new diplomatic relationship with Cuba.

Other leaders of the world gave their New Year’s messages to the people of their nations including French President Francois Hollande and German chancellor Angela Merkel. Both of their countries have suffered numerous terrorist attacks over the last year, with Germany just recently trying to get over the Berlin Christmas attack. They encouraged their people to stay strong and look ahead toward a brighter future.
